The two songs I never want to hear again are huge hits in Europe. Take Germany, for example: an entire nation of beer drinkers who can sing--word for word, at the top of their lungs--Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline, right down to the "whoa, whoa, whoa's"...ugh!!!
And right behind it, as if that nasty bit of saccharine wasn't enough, John Denver's "Country Road, Take Me Home," an ode to, of all states, West By God Virginia. A state absolutely mined and logged of nearly all it's natural beauty, 45 percent of all live births are to unmarried mothers, and the average life expectancy of those babies is only 71 years of age.
If it was such a great country home, why did he live in California?
I'll agree on both counts. John Denver and Neil Diamond; totally okay never hearing them again. But the 1980s were pretty bleak for me. Endless school fights and being poor and undernourished. I have all sorts of negative associations with much of the music and feel not much nostalgia. I have this opposite-than-usual experience of enjoying newer music as it is released; ever since the 90s, music has been evolving in interesting ways.
But what we can learn from John Denver is to not build light aircraft.
Oh, you fucking rock so hard! Thank you so much for this newsletter. (I had no idea you didn't have free speech there! How uninformed I am! How sad for your country.) I hope you don't get into trouble for your honesty.
And I hope your AI-generated letter stings those corporations!
Australia's a Constitutional Monarchy. I'll grant the parliamentary system kinda works pretty decently, esp. when stacked against the Electoral College and things like that. Then again, some days and really recognize the 'former penal colony' aspect to the country. Our elected leaders are often complete nitwits, like anywhere else.
I've been thinking up all sorts of AI-enabled mischief lately. So. Much. Potential for nonsense.
I'd be happy if they took Queensland back to a time BEFORE the cost of living crisis. BEFORE the housing crisis. I remember a time when people didn't live in tents in suburban parks, for instance. Overall; I see so much governmental stupidity here, it's ridiculous. I just don't talk about it much because the rest of the world is also on fire.
Yes I’d be happy with that too of course. I just have issues with this Government and its plans for Victoria Park and weird political decisions. I often wonder why we got rid of a Senate apart from the obvious financial savings.

🤪 I appreciate you.

The other person arrested had specifically told the other marchers not to chant ‘From the River to the Sea’. Queensland is going back in time.

This world really, really confuses me and I desperately fear AI will add to this. I'm going to retire my brain now.
